Academics, acting as an agency, are recruiting a dedicated and compassionate 1:1 Level 2 Teaching Assistant for a full-time, temp to perm role in a specialist SEN school in Sheffield.
Position: 1:1 Level 2 Teaching Assistant
Location: Sheffield, South Yorkshire
Contract: Full-time, temporary (ongoing)
School: Specialist SEN school supporting pupils aged 11-19 with complex learning and communication needs
Pay: £88.94 - £100 per day (dependent upon experience, training, qualifications & client rate available, inclusive of holiday pay)
About the Role
This is a fantastic opportunity for a skilled 1:1 Level 2 Teaching Assistant to join a specialist setting that supports pupils with autism, communication difficulties, sensory needs, and complex learning challenges. You will provide individualised support for a pupil on the engagement pathway, helping them to access learning in a structured, nurturing, and sensory-focused environment.
You will work as part of a supportive team of teachers and professionals dedicated to ensuring every child reaches their full potential - academically, socially, and emotionally.
Key Responsibilities
* Provide 1:1 support for a pupil with complex communication and learning needs.
* Assist with personal care and promote independence.
* Support engagement and interaction through sensory-based and structured activities.
* Implement personalised strategies to support emotional regulation and communication.
* Work collaboratively with teachers, therapists, and SEN specialists.
* Follow individual education and behaviour support plans.
* Maintain a safe, inclusive, and positive learning environment.
Candidate Requirements
✔ Level 2 Teaching Assistant qualification (minimum).
✔ Experience working with children or young people with SEN, ideally in a specialist setting.
✔ Understanding of the engagement pathway, sensory processing, and complex communication difficulties.
✔ A patient, empathetic, and proactive approach.
✔ Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
✔ Enhanced DBS (or willingness to apply).
