Start Date: ASAP

Hours: 2 hours per day, Monday to Friday (mornings only)

Contract: Part-time, ongoing

Quantum Scholars is seeking a caring, patient, and experienced SEND Learning Support Assistant to provide 1:1 support for a child in their home.

The child has a Visual Impairment and Autism and is also learning English as an additional language. Having been out of education for some time, the primary aim of this role is to help them rebuild confidence, develop basic English and life skills, and prepare for a future placement within an SEND school setting.

This is a nurturing, relationship-focused role where consistency, patience, and understanding are essential. The successful candidate will be able to create a calm and supportive learning environment, using simple, engaging activities to support communication, routine, independence, and overall engagement.

The role will involve:

* Providing 1:1 support in the child's home for 2 hours each morning

* Supporting the development of basic English language skills, including speaking, listening, vocabulary, and simple written work

* Delivering life skills and independence-focused activities

* Helping the child build confidence, establish routines, and develop readiness for school

* Adapting activities to meet the needs of a child with Autism and a Visual Impairment

* Working in a calm, patient, and encouraging manner

* Liaising with Quantum Scholars and other relevant professionals as required

The ideal candidate will have:

* Experience supporting children or young people with SEND

* A good understanding of Autism and strategies to support communication, routine, and emotional regulation

* Ideally, some experience of, or familiarity with, supporting children with a Visual Impairment

* The ability to support basic English language acquisition/ESOL learning

* A nurturing, flexible, and patient approach

* Confidence working independently in a 1:1 home-based setting

* A strong commitment to safeguarding and promoting positive outcomes for children and young people

This role would suit an experienced Learning Support Assistant, Teaching Assistant, SEND Support Worker, Tutor, or someone with significant experience supporting children with additional needs.

Applicants must be willing to complete all safer recruitment checks, including an enhanced DBS check, reference checks, and verification of their right to work in the UK.

To apply, please send your CV or contact Quantum Scholars for further information.
