Air Quality Consultant - Oxford - £35,000 to £45,000 + Benefits + TOIL

A UK-based Environmental and Air Quality Consultancy is looking to appoint an experienced Air Quality Consultant to join its expanding team in Oxford. This is a great opportunity for a mid-level consultant to take ownership of technically engaging projects across planning, transport, and industrial sectors.

Essential Criteria:

*

A degree (BSc or MSc) in Environmental Science, Atmospheric Science, Geography, Chemistry, Engineering or a related field.

*

2-5+ years' experience in air quality consultancy or a similar environmental discipline.

*

Strong understanding of UK air quality policy, modelling methods, and planning guidance.

*

Experience with dispersion modelling tools (e.g., ADMS-Roads, ADMS 5, AERMOD).

*

A full UK driving licence.

Desirable Experience:

*

Familiarity with LAQM, EPUK/IAQM guidance, DMRB, or permitting assessments.

*

Experience producing detailed technical reports for planning and permitting.

*

Comfortable liaising with clients and regulators.

*

Knowledge of GIS tools or transport-related modelling techniques.

The Role:

You'll be responsible for delivering detailed air quality assessments, supporting planning applications and regulatory submissions. The role is largely desk-based, with opportunities to lead modelling, reporting, and client engagement while collaborating with multidisciplinary teams across the business.

Key Responsibilities:

Running air dispersion models and interpreting monitoring data.

*

Preparing air quality reports and documentation for planning and compliance.

*

Managing small to medium-sized projects from start to finish.

*

Supporting junior staff and assisting with technical development.

*

Engaging with clients, local authorities, and stakeholders as needed.

This is a full-time, Oxford-based position, offering hybrid flexibility, a competitive salary (£35,000-£45,000), pension, bonus scheme, and a Time-Off-In-Lieu (TOIL) system for extra hours worked.
