Assistant Geologist

Location: Nottingham

Salary: £27,000 - £30,000 (depending on experience) + benefits

An excellent opportunity has become available for an Assistant Geologist to join a well-established ground investigation and geotechnical consultancy in Nottingham. This role is ideal for a recent graduate or someone with up to a couple of years of experience looking to build a career within the ground investigation sector.

You will join a supportive team of geologists and geotechnical engineers working on a wide range of projects across the UK, including infrastructure, residential, commercial and environmental developments.

The Role

As an Assistant Geologist, you will be involved in both site and office-based work, supporting the delivery of ground investigation projects from initial site works through to reporting.

Your responsibilities will include:

* Assisting with site investigations including boreholes, trial pits and window sampling

* Soil and rock logging in accordance with British Standards

* Collecting and managing soil and groundwater samples

* Assisting with gas and groundwater monitoring

* Liaising with drilling contractors and site teams

* Assisting with the preparation of factual ground investigation reports

* Supporting senior staff with data collection and interpretation

Requirements

* Degree in Geology, Engineering Geology, Geoscience or a related subject

* Strong interest in ground investigation and geotechnical engineering

* Full UK driving licence

* Good communication and organisational skills

* Ability to work both independently and as part of a team
