Associate Director / Technical Director - Town Planning

Location: Birmingham (hybrid working available)

A globally recognised, multi-disciplinary consultancy is looking to appoint an experienced Associate Director or Technical Director of Town Planning to lead and expand its team in Birmingham. This is a senior leadership opportunity within a high-performing, national planning and environmental consultancy that is delivering some of the UK's most complex and high-profile infrastructure and development projects.

This is a rare opportunity to influence major schemes in transport, water, energy, and housing-while also helping shape national policy and infrastructure delivery.

The Role

Lead a growing team of planners across the Midlands, working on nationally significant infrastructure and development schemes.

*

Deliver expert planning advice to public and private sector clients, including government bodies, utilities, and major landowners.

*

Oversee complex, multi-disciplinary bids and project delivery across sectors including energy, transport, and housing.

*

Drive growth, build new client relationships and develop innovative planning services.

*

Collaborate with national teams across planning, environment, design, and engineering disciplines.

*

Contribute to the consultancy's thought leadership in areas such as Net Zero, ESG, Biodiversity Net Gain, and digital transformation.

Your Profile

*

Chartered RTPI member with an RTPI-accredited degree in Town and Country Planning.

*

Strong consultancy background with leadership experience.

*

Demonstrated success in winning and delivering large-scale planning and infrastructure projects.

*

Sound knowledge of UK planning law and commercial project management.

*

Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills.

*

Proactive, collaborative, and growth-oriented mindset.
