A respected and forward-thinking engineering consultancy is seeking a skilled Building Physics Consultant to join their growing sustainability team. This is a fantastic opportunity for a technically proficient and motivated individual to play a key role in delivering cutting-edge, low-carbon design solutions across a diverse range of high-profile projects.
The Role:
The successful candidate will be responsible for delivering high-quality building performance analysis, supporting design teams with data-driven insight from concept through to completion. Working closely with architects, MEP engineers, and sustainability professionals, they will help shape the energy, thermal comfort, and environmental strategy for buildings across multiple sectors including commercial, residential, and public infrastructure.
Key Responsibilities:
* Carrying out dynamic thermal modelling, daylight analysis, and overheating assessments (e.g., TM52, TM59)
* IES modelling
* Producing energy modelling and compliance reports (Part L, EPC, SBEM, SAP, etc.)
* Advising on passive design strategies and low-energy building solutions
* Collaborating with multidisciplinary design teams to influence sustainable outcomes
* Staying current with industry trends, regulations, and best practices
Requirements:
* A degree in Building Physics, Environmental Design, Mechanical Engineering, or related field
* Proven experience in dynamic simulation modelling (e.g., IES-VE, DesignBuilder)
* Strong knowledge of UK Building Regulations and sustainability standards (e.g., Part L, BREEAM, LEED)
* Excellent communication skills and a collaborative approach to problem-solving
* Membership of a relevant professional body (e.g., CIBSE, IMechE) is advantageous
