Careers Advisor / Employability Tutor who has a good understanding of coaching, career development, student / learner progression pathways and employability skills development is required for a well-respected Academy based in South Kirkby, West Yorkshire.
SALARY: £25,500 - £30,000 per annum + Benefits (see below)
LOCATION: South Kirkby, West Yorkshire
JOB TYPE: Full-Time, Permanent
WORKING HOURS: 40 Hours per Week, Monday to Friday: 8:30am to 5:30pm
Part-time working on a pro rata basis or hybrid working would be considered. Evening and weekend working may be required
JOB OVERVIEW
We have a fantastic new job opportunity for a Careers Advisor / Employability Tutor who has a good understanding of coaching, career development, student / learner progression pathways and employability skills development.
Working as a Careers Advisor / Employability Tutor you will deliver tailored one-to-one and group career coaching and equip learners with the tools to thrive in a competitive job market. You will be key at critical stages of the learner journey, working closely with the Project Manager and Senior Leadership Team to ensure every learner achieves positive career outcomes.
As a Careers Advisor / Employability Tutor you will also help refine internal systems, support progression tracking, and collaborate across team to deliver a joined-up learner experience from first contact to progression.

DUTIES
Your duties as a Careers Advisor / Employability Tutor will include:
• Deliver tailored career and pastoral support through one-to-one and group sessions, progress reviews, career exploration and targeted coaching
• Build learner confidence and employability by supporting CV and portfolio development, strengthening interview skills and developing professional behaviours
• Drive career progression by supporting transitions between roles, securing promotions and negotiating employment terms, as well as matching learners to employer opportunities
• Connect learners with industry through organised interviews, employer introductions, job board updates and sharing relevant sector insights and opportunities
• Accurately track learner progress and outcomes
• Use labour market insights to keep coaching relevant, align resources with learner goals and support targeted employer engagement and programme development
• Develop and maintain a bank of high-quality resources and toolkits to enhance learner experience and maximise the impact of coaching time
CANDIDATE REQUIREMENTS
• Understanding of coaching, career development, learner progression pathways and employability skills development
• Awareness of safeguarding and Prevent Duty in a learning environment (or willingness to learn)
• A skilled communicator
• A relationship-builder with excellent interpersonal skills
• A passionate advocate for learner success
• Flexibility to work evenings and weekends when needed
• Ability to travel occasionally to other teaching locations around the UK (with work related expenses paid)
DESIRABLE
• Knowledge of funded training programmes (e.g., Skills Bootcamps)
• Knowledge of the creative and live events industries and associated roles
• Familiarity with Ofsted’s Education Inspection Framework and QA expectations in Further Education
