Careers Lead - Specialist School - Milton Keynes

Location: Milton Keynes

Start Date: September

Contract Type: Full-time, Permanent

We are currently seeking an experienced and driven Careers Lead to join a specialist school in Milton Keynes. This is an exciting opportunity to take the lead in delivering and developing a whole-school careers programme that supports and inspires students to achieve positive destinations.

The successful candidate will work collaboratively with internal staff and external partners across Milton Keynes to build a robust, compliant, and forward-thinking careers strategy.

Key Responsibilities Include:

Leading the careers programme in line with the Gatsby Benchmarks

Managing and coordinating the wider careers team, including a Job Coach, teachers, administrators, and external partners

Preparing and implementing a development plan for careers guidance and reviewing its impact

Building and maintaining links with local employers, further education providers, and apprenticeship schemes across Milton Keynes

Engaging with parents/carers to update them on work experience progress and next steps

Using Compass+ to maintain accurate records and carry out evaluations

Developing and maintaining the careers section of the school website

Facilitating the school's Alumni network and involving former students in guidance activities

Requirements:

Experience working in a school or college setting

Strong understanding of the higher education and careers landscape

Excellent written and verbal communication skills

Ability to work with and lead a team of staff and external stakeholders

Strong organisational and record-keeping skills

A Level 6 or Level 7 qualification in careers guidance is desirable

A passion for creating pathways and opportunities for all learners
