Senior Civil Engineer - Infrastructure & Drainage | Wigan
Salary up to £55,000 + Benefits
A well-established and growing civil and structural engineering consultancy based in Wigan is seeking an experienced Senior Civil Engineer to join its infrastructure team. This is an excellent opportunity for a motivated engineer to play a key role in delivering a diverse range of development and infrastructure projects while helping to mentor junior staff.
The Role
As a Senior Civil Engineer, you will lead the design and delivery of civil infrastructure and drainage schemes for a variety of residential, commercial, and mixed-use developments. You will work closely with clients, local authorities, and multidisciplinary teams to ensure projects are delivered efficiently and to the highest technical standards.
Key Responsibilities
* Lead the design of drainage and infrastructure schemes, including surface water, foul water, and highway layouts
* Prepare and review technical reports, drawings, and calculations
* Manage projects from concept through to detailed design and construction stages
* Undertake drainage strategies, flood risk assessments, and SuDS design
* Liaise with local authorities, statutory bodies, and clients
* Provide technical guidance and mentoring to junior engineers and technicians
* Ensure designs comply with current regulations, design standards, and industry best practice
Requirements
* Degree qualified in Civil Engineering or a related discipline
* Significant experience in civil infrastructure and drainage design within a consultancy environment
* Strong knowledge of Section 38, Section 104, and SuDS design principles
* Proficiency in design software such as Civil 3D, MicroDrainage or InfoDrainage, and AutoCAD
* Experience coordinating with multidisciplinary teams and external stakeholders
* Working towards or already holding Chartered or Incorporated Engineer status (ICE or similar) is desirable
* Strong communication, leadership, and project management skills
