The Opportunity
Our client, a global leader in data centre solutions, is seeking an experienced HV Authorised Shift Engineer to join their high-performing team in Slough.
This is an excellent opportunity to work within a mission-critical data centre environment, supporting high-profile banking and enterprise clients. You will play a key role in maintaining operational resilience, ensuring reliability, efficiency, and compliance across critical electrical and mechanical infrastructure.
Role Overview
As part of the on-site engineering team, you will be responsible for the safe operation, maintenance, and fault response of high-voltage systems and associated plant equipment.
Working a structured continental shift pattern, you will help safeguard uptime in a high-stakes, zero-tolerance environment, where precision, accountability, and technical expertise are essential.
Key Responsibilities
Electrical & Critical Systems
Operate and maintain HV electrical systems, including transformers, switchgear, UPS systems, and standby generators
Fault-find and manage single-phase and three-phase distribution systems
Carry out safe switching operations in line with approved procedures and Authorised Person responsibilities
Mechanical & Building Services Support
Maintain VRV systems and associated mechanical plant as required
Support the upkeep of critical infrastructure to ensure optimal performance and resilience
Compliance & Operational Excellence
Work safely and effectively within a continental shift pattern (6 on / 4 off, days and nights)
Ensure full compliance with site policies, health & safety legislation, and client standards
Respond promptly to incidents, alarms, and system faults within a data centre or banking environment
Candidate Requirements
HV Authorisation (essential)
Proven experience within data centres or critical banking facilities
Strong technical knowledge of electrical and mechanical systems in mission-critical environments
Ability to work independently while contributing positively within a team
Calm, decisive, and safety-focused under pressure
Professional, flexible, and reliable approach to shift-based work
