The Opportunity

A leading Facilities Management provider is seeking an Electrical Engineer to join the on-site team at a large, high-profile gallery in London’s West End. This is a unique environment, combining public access, high-end presentation spaces, and sensitive infrastructure. The successful candidate will play a key role in maintaining lighting, power, and critical systems that support both the building and the artwork it houses. This is not a typical commercial site. It requires precision, care, and a strong understanding of how engineering directly affects the visitor experience and preservation standards.

What Makes This Role Different

- Work in a prestigious, culturally significant environment

- Be responsible for systems that directly impact artwork presentation and preservation

- A clean, well-managed site with high engineering standards

- A steady, structured role with a focus on quality over volume

- Opportunity to be part of a respected, professional on-site team

Key Responsibilities

- Carry out planned preventive maintenance (PPM) and reactive works on all electrical systems

- Maintain and fault-find on lighting systems, including gallery and display lighting

- Support power distribution, emergency lighting, and control systems

- Ensure lighting levels and systems meet the specific requirements of exhibition spaces

- Respond quickly to faults to avoid disruption to visitors and exhibitions

- Ensure all work complies with health & safety and statutory regulations

- Maintain accurate logbooks and compliance records

- Work closely with site management and specialist contractors when required

The Ideal Candidate The organisation is looking for a detail-focused and reliable Electrical Engineer who understands the importance of working in a high-profile public space. The right individual will take pride in their work and maintain high standards at all times.

Essential:

- Recognised electrical qualification (NVQ / C&G Level 3 or equivalent)

- 18th Edition Wiring Regulations

- Experience within commercial or high-end environments

- Strong fault-finding and diagnostic skills

- A professional approach and good communication skills

Desirable:

- Experience working in galleries, museums, or heritage buildings

- Familiarity with specialist lighting systems or controls

- Basic multi-skilled knowledge (mechanical support)

What’s On Offer

- Competitive salary with overtime opportunities

- Stable, long-term role on a prestigious contract

- Exposure to a unique and technically interesting environment

- Supportive team with clear structure and standards

- Opportunity to work on a site where attention to detail truly matters

This is an opportunity to step into a role that offers something different from the usual FM environment. The setting, the standards, and the responsibility make it a strong move for an engineer who values quality over routine.

Apply now to join a team responsible for maintaining one of the West End’s most respected and visually striking environments.
