Job Description - Teacher of English
Start Date: September
Responsible to: Head of English
Purpose of the Role
To deliver high-quality English lessons that inspire a love of literature and language, raise attainment, and support students to achieve their full academic potential.
Key Responsibilities
* Plan and deliver engaging English lessons across KS3 and KS4 (KS5 desirable).
* Teach a range of literature and language topics in line with the national curriculum.
* Assess, track, and support student progress effectively.
* Provide feedback to improve student outcomes.
* Create a positive, inclusive, and well-managed classroom environment.
* Contribute to curriculum planning and departmental development.
* Support extracurricular activities such as reading clubs or writing enrichment.
* Promote safeguarding, wellbeing, and high standards of behaviour.
Person Specification
* Qualified Teacher Status (QTS).
* Degree in English or a related subject.
* Strong subject knowledge in English Language and Literature.
* Effective classroom management and communication skills.
* Enthusiastic, reflective, and committed to raising achievement.
* Commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people.
