Environmental Consultant

Location: London

Penguin Recruitment is working on behalf of a leading, independent planning and development consultancy to recruit an Environmental Consultant to join their established London team.

This role offers the opportunity to work on a wide range of high profile development and infrastructure projects across sectors including residential, commercial, mixed-use, energy, and major regeneration. You'll be part of a collaborative, multidisciplinary environment where environmental considerations are central to shaping sustainable development outcomes.

The Role

As an Environmental Consultant, your responsibilities will include:

Supporting and managing Environmental Impact Assessments (EIAs) and environmental reports

*

Coordinating inputs from technical specialists and external consultants

*

Preparing screening and scoping reports, Environmental Statements, and supporting documentation

*

Liaising with local authorities, statutory consultees, and project stakeholders

*

Advising clients and internal teams on environmental planning strategy and risk

*

Assisting with project management, programme delivery, and quality assurance

About You

The ideal Environmental Consultant will have:

*

A degree in Environmental Science, Environmental Planning, Geography, or a related discipline

*

Relevant experience in environmental consultancy, planning, or EIA coordination

*

A good understanding of UK environmental and planning legislation

*

Strong written and verbal communication skills

*

The ability to manage multiple projects and work collaboratively within multidisciplinary teams

*

Professional membership with IEMA or working towards chartership
