Functional Skills Tutor

Location: Telford

Salary: £35,500 per annum

Contract: Permanent, full-time

Hours: 40 hours per week, Monday to Friday

The Opportunity

We are recruiting an enthusiastic and committed Functional Skills Tutor to join a specialist education and training provider supporting young people in Telford.

This is an excellent opportunity for someone who is passionate about helping learners overcome barriers and achieve their potential. You will deliver engaging Maths and English tuition while providing the encouragement, structure and individual support young people need to progress towards further education, training, employment and greater independence.

The successful candidate will be a confident and adaptable practitioner who can build positive relationships with learners, respond calmly to challenging situations and create an inclusive environment in which every young person feels able to participate and succeed.

Key Responsibilities

* Deliver Functional Skills Maths and English from Entry Level 1 through to Level 2.

* Plan and deliver creative, engaging lessons tailored to different abilities and learning needs.

* Motivate learners who may have experienced barriers or disengagement from traditional education.

* Assess and monitor learner progress, achievement, attendance and engagement.

* Maintain accurate and up-to-date learner records.

About You

You will ideally have:

* Experience teaching or tutoring Functional Skills Maths and English up to Level 2

* A recognised teaching or training qualification (ideally L5 or above)

* Strong lesson-planning, assessment and learner-management skills.

* Experience supporting young people with a range of needs or barriers to learning.

* A patient, empathetic and resilient approach.

* The confidence to adapt your teaching style to meet individual learner needs.

* Strong communication, organisation and record-keeping skills.

* A genuine commitment to improving outcomes for young people.
