The Opportunity

A leading environmental and geotechnical consultancy is seeking a Geoenvironmental Engineer to join its expanding Leeds office. Due to continued growth and a strong project pipeline, this is an excellent opportunity for an ambitious engineer to work on a variety of contaminated land, brownfield redevelopment and environmental assessment projects across the UK.

The successful candidate will be involved in all stages of project delivery, from site investigation and risk assessment through to remediation strategy development and client liaison.

Key Responsibilities

* Designing, managing and supervising geo-environmental and ground investigation projects.

* Undertaking Phase 1 Desk Studies and Preliminary Risk Assessments.

* Completing Phase 2 Site Investigations and supervising site works.

* Soil, groundwater and ground gas sampling and monitoring.

* Interpreting laboratory data and undertaking Generic and Detailed Quantitative Risk Assessments.

* Preparing factual and interpretative reports.

* Developing remediation strategies and verification plans.

* Liaising with clients, contractors, regulators and local authorities.

* Supporting junior staff and contributing to technical excellence across the team.

Requirements

* Degree in Environmental Science, Geology, Engineering Geology, Geo-Environmental Engineering or a related discipline.

* Experience working within a geo-environmental or contaminated land consultancy.

* Knowledge of UK contaminated land legislation and guidance.

* Experience undertaking site investigations and environmental risk assessments.

* Strong report writing and communication skills.

* Full UK Driving Licence.

* Membership of a relevant professional body would be advantageous.
