Graduate Town Planner

Location: Cambridge

Salary: £27-30,000

Are you a recent Planning graduate ready to take the next step in your career with an established and experienced planning team?

I'm currently recruiting for a Graduate Town Planner opportunity in Cambridge, offering an excellent opportunity to gain hands-on experience across a varied portfolio of planning projects. You'll work closely with experienced planners, develop your technical knowledge and professional skills, and benefit from a structured graduate training programme designed to support your long-term career development.

Key Responsibilities

* Assist with the preparation of planning statements and planning appraisals

* Support the delivery of a range of planning projects, including larger and more complex schemes

* Prepare and submit planning applications and appeals

* Assist clients throughout the planning and development process

* Assess and appraise new development opportunities

* Undertake planning policy research and analysis

* Assist with the preparation of Design and Access Statements where appropriate

* Manage a variety of planning applications and monitor progress and outcomes

* Support community engagement and consultation activities

* Attend planning committee meetings and public examinations

* Participate in site visits and client meetings

* Assist with preparing fee proposals and project scopes

About You

* A degree in Town Planning or a related subject, ideally RTPI-accredited

* A clear interest in town planning and a genuine desire to develop a career in the sector

* Previous planning experience would be advantageous but is not essential

* Strong written and verbal communication skills

* Good organisational skills and attention to detail

* Comfortable working collaboratively within a team

* A proactive, motivated and ambitious approach to professional development

* Transferable skills and relevant experience are encouraged, and we welcome applications from candidates who may not meet every requirement
