Location: Grantham
Salary: circa £70,000 + car allowance

We are looking for a strategic and results-driven Head of Procurement & Materials Planning to oversee the company's sourcing, procurement, and materials management operations. In this senior leadership role, you will ensure a seamless supply of goods and services, balancing cost-efficiency with operational reliability, while supporting business growth and project delivery.

You will be responsible for shaping procurement strategies, managing supplier relationships, optimising inventory planning, and driving process improvements across the organisation.
The role of the Head of Procurement & Materials Planning
* Design and implement procurement strategies that support project schedules, budgets, and overall business objectives.
* Manage supplier and subcontractor selection, evaluation, and performance to ensure quality, reliability, and value.
* Lead tendering processes for contracts and procurement packages, including documentation, bid assessment, and award recommendations.
* Negotiate terms, pricing, and delivery agreements to achieve the best commercial outcomes.
* Collaborate with project teams and site operations to understand material needs and schedule requirements.
* Maintain compliance with company policies, industry standards, and legal obligations.
* Introduce and leverage digital tools and ERP systems to improve procurement efficiency and visibility.
* Partner with Finance and Operations to align procurement plans with cash flow and budget considerations.
* Monitor market trends and pricing to adjust sourcing strategies proactively.
* Identify cost-saving opportunities and drive continuous improvement across procurement processes.
* Lead, mentor, and develop a high-performing procurement and materials planning team.
* Promote collaboration across supply chain, commercial, finance and production functions.
The ideal candidate for the Head of Procurement & Materials Planning
* Extensive experience in procurement, supply chain management, and materials planning, with a progressive leadership track record.
* Experience managing both strategic sourcing and inventory/materials planning.
* Strong analytical, negotiation, and ERP/system management capabilities.
* Exceptional negotiation and contract management skills.
* Strategic mindset with a focus on optimising the supply chain and materials planning.
* Proven leadership and ability to work across multiple functions.
* Data-driven approach to demand planning, forecasting, and supplier performance management.
* Commitment to ethical, sustainable, and risk-aware decision-making.
* Professional certifications such as CIPS, APICS, CSCP, CPSM, or equivalent - desirable but not essential.
