Role: HGV Fitter (Hydraulics / Pneumatics / Welding)
Location: Sheffield
Shift Pattern: Monday – Friday 6.30am -4pm and Saturday 6.30 -11.30
Salary: £59,592 per year - Overtime paid at x 1.5
About the Role
My client is a well-established and growing HGV Engineering business with over 40 years industry experience. They are currently recruiting for an experienced HGV Fitter to join their busy Sheffield depot. This is a days-based role with no engine work required, ideal for a fitter with strong mechanical and fabrication skills who enjoys hands-on workshop work.
You will be responsible for the repair, maintenance, and modification of HGV, Trailers, Tippers and Cranes, focusing on hydraulics, pneumatics, and welding.
Key Responsibilities for the HGV Fitter
- Maintenance and repair of HGV`, Tippers, Trailers and ancillary equipment
- Working on hydraulic and pneumatic systems
- Carrying out welding and fabrication repairs (MIG / arc)
- Diagnosing and repairing mechanical faults (non-engine related)
- Ensuring all work is completed safely and to a high standard
- Maintaining a clean and organised workshop environment
- Complying with health & safety procedures at all times
- Ensure all Health and safety obligations are met, and company policies are adhered to
- Report any safety concerns, hazard observations, accidents and incidents by the end of that shift to allow full investigation and prevent re-occurrence
- Ensure activities and associated actions and measures taken do not endanger but assist with the upkeep and maintaining the company's ISO (9001, 14001 and 45001) standards and certification
- To have a good understanding of vehicle mechanical interfaces and repairs of vehicle components.
- To be able to install / repair hydraulic systems
- To overhaul of raft components.
- To be able to understand schematic drawings.
What We’re Looking For in a HGV Fitter
- Previous experience as an HGV Fitter, Trailer Fitter, or Plant Fitter
- Strong knowledge of hydraulics and pneumatics
- Welding and fabrication experience
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Good attention to detail and a proactive approach to work
- Relevant mechanical or fabrication qualifications (desirable but not essential)
