HGV Team Leader
Shift: Monday-Friday – 7.30am – 4pm
Location: Newcastle
Salary: £44,727 - £21.50 per hour

A well-established commercial vehicle repair centre with depots across the UK, they have a diverse fleet of vans, trailers, excavators and 44 tonne tankers with over 5,000 vehicles in their fleet. They have been well established for over 20 years, they are a secure company owned by 2 utilities and are now looking for a skilled HGV Team Leader to join their ever-growing team.
About your new HGV Team Leader Role
- Managing customer expectations whilst striving to ensure excellent levels of customer service are delivered
- First point of contact at workshop reception.
- Proactively update the customer with maintenance progress.
- Liaise with the customer to manage scheduled work is booked and Compliance Manager is updated accordingly.
- Chase the customer for any missed bookings.
- Allocate relief vehicles to customers.
- Support the management of the workshop diary based on resources.
- Check relief vehicles when returned to the workshop for damage and condition.
- Ensure spot hire vehicles are maintained and kept to an appropriate level of cleanliness.
- Proactively manage workshop booking, updating Compliance Manager and workshop diary.
- Keeping statuses of bookings up to date in Key2.
- Raise internal job numbers for scheduled events, defects etc.
- Work to keep open jobs to a minimum, updating the status as required.
- First point of contact for queries from Fleet Management or Accounts
- Ensure assets are allocated on or off road correctly and on a timely basis.
- Keep VOR information up to date with appropriate updates.
- Obtain authorisation for external maintenance costs on workshop facility equipment.
- Liaise and book in external suppliers, i.e. Loler providers, HGV Mot’s, Ford mobile etc.
- Follow vehicle key control storage protocols.
- Support vehicle decommissioning; including fuel card decommissioning, tracker removal, hand back documentation etc

The successful HGV Team Leader will have
The successful HGV Team Leader must be a fully skilled with industry recognised qualifications (City & Guilds / NVQ Level Three) in heavy vehicle service, maintenance and repair.
