HGV Technician – Night Shift

Location: Glasgow

Pay: £22 per hour

Shift Pattern: Monday to Thursday, 6:00pm – 6:00am

Our client is a well-established fleet maintenance provider with over 25 years of industry experience. Due to continued growth, they are seeking skilled and motivated HGV Technicians to join their expanding team and contribute to maintaining high standards of fleet reliability and compliance.

The Role of the HGV Technician

As an HGV Technician, you will be responsible for maintaining and repairing a fleet of commercial vehicles to ensure they remain safe, compliant, and operational. Key duties include:

 

- Ensuring fleet vehicles comply with all roadworthiness and safety regulations

- Carrying out routine servicing and preventative maintenance inspections

- Preparing vehicles for MOT testing and inspections

- Diagnosing faults and carrying out repairs following defect reports

- Working closely with transport and operational teams to minimise disruption to fleet operations

- Participating in a call-out rota to support fleet breakdowns when required

- Taking part in a weekend rota when scheduled

Requirements of the successful HGV Technician

The successful candidate will demonstrate the following:

 

- Strong problem-solving ability and the capacity to work effectively as part of a team

- Excellent communication skills with a flexible and proactive approach to work

- Commitment to maintaining high standards of workmanship and safety

- NVQ Level 3 (or equivalent) in Heavy Vehicle Maintenance and Repair (preferred)

- Good level of IT literacy

- Previous experience working with commercial vehicles

- Proven knowledge and experience as an HGV or Trailer Technician

- LGV C+E licence advantageous but not essential
