About your new company:
An established and customer-focused hire business is seeking a proactive and organised Hire desk Controller to ensure the efficient day-to-day running of the hire desk and shop operations. This is a key role supporting hire, sales, stock control, and customer service while maintaining high operational and safety standards.
About your new Hire Desk Controller role:
- Manage the efficient day-to-day operation of the hire desk and shop
- Maximise hire and retail sales while maintaining agreed profit margins
- Deliver high standards of customer service across all hire and sales channels
- Ensure hire equipment is prepared, tested, and compliant, including PAT testing
- Handle hire and sales enquiries via phone, email, and in person
- Source, purchase, and manage hire and shop stock cost-effectively
- Maintain professional equipment displays and a clean, organised shop environment
- Identify and communicate new hire or sales opportunities to management
- Coordinate with delivery drivers to meet or exceed customer expectations
- Support wider business operations through equipment delivery, collection, testing, cleaning, pressure washing machines and other duties as required
Experience required for the Hire Desk Controller role:
- Strong interpersonal and customer service skills
- Professional telephone manner
- Experience in a Hire Desk Controller role previously
- Basic computer skills
- Working knowledge of MS Outlook and Word (Excel desirable)
- Basic understanding of stock control
- Willingness to gain in-depth knowledge of hire desk software
- Thorough working knowledge of rental industry equipment
