Housing Support Worker – Homelessness Services

An excellent opportunity for a Housing Support Worker to join a supported housing and homelessness service in Oxford. You will support vulnerable adults with tenancy support, safeguarding, resident wellbeing, housing management and supported accommodation services within a residential housing environment.

SALARY: £24,479 to £26,000 per annum Actual (£20,972 to £22,285 Pro Rata for 30 Hours) + Benefits

LOCATION: Oxford, Oxfordshire, South East England (OX4) – Fully Office Based

JOB TYPE: Part-Time, 12 months Fixed Term Contract

WORKING HOURS: 30 hours per week

Week 1: Wednesday 14:00 – 20:00, Thursday and Friday 08:00 – 20:00

Week 2: Monday and Tuesday 14:00 – 20:00, Saturday 08:00 – 14:00, Sunday 08:00 – 20:00

JOB OVERVIEW

We have a fantastic new job opportunity for a Housing Support Worker to join a supported accommodation and community housing team delivering housing management and resident support services.

Working as the Housing Support Worker you will provide tenancy support, safeguarding, wellbeing monitoring and practical housing support for vulnerable adults living within supported housing accommodation. You will also assist with building safety, resident engagement, housing management and homelessness support services.

As a Housing Support Worker you will develop positive relationships with residents, support agencies and community organisations while ensuring health and safety, accurate records, supported housing procedures and resident wellbeing standards are maintained.

DUTIES

Your duties as the Housing Support Worker – Homelessness Services include:

• Conducting Building Inspections: Identify maintenance issues and report repairs to the appropriate teams

• Maintaining Building Safety: Carry out patrols, CCTV monitoring, alarm testing and security checks across the supported accommodation service

• Managing Resident Support: Provide practical tenancy support and assist vulnerable residents with settling into accommodation

• Supporting Housing Management Activities: Assist with resident sign-ups, viewings and housing management procedures

• Promoting Resident Wellbeing: Monitor resident welfare and signpost individuals to homelessness, housing and community support services

• Maintaining Accurate Records: Complete visitor logs, incident reports, safeguarding records and housing management documentation

• Supporting Safeguarding Procedures: Report concerns relating to vulnerable adults using the correct safeguarding processes

• Encouraging Resident Engagement: Support consultation activities and help residents remain informed about accommodation services

• Building Professional Relationships: Maintain positive working relationships with residents, support providers and external agencies

• Providing Key Holder Duties: Manage building access and supervise contractors or visitors where required

CANDIDATE REQUIREMENTS

ESSENTIAL

• Educated to GCSE level or equivalent in Maths and English

• Previous experience in housing support, homelessness services, supported accommodation, care or community support work

• Understanding of safeguarding procedures and supporting vulnerable adults

• Ability to build positive relationships with residents, colleagues and external support agencies

• Good organisational skills with the ability to maintain accurate records and follow confidentiality procedures

• Ability to use IT systems, management information systems and standard Microsoft Office applications

• Strong communication skills and the ability to work within a resident-focused housing environment

DESIRABLE

• NVQ Level 2 or Level 3 in Health and Social Care or willingness to work towards qualification

• Experience with supported housing, tenancy support or homelessness services

• A background in residential support, housing management or community care services
