Junior Engineering Geologist

£28,000 - £32,000

Birmingham

A well-established ground engineering consultancy is looking to recruit a Junior Engineering Geologist to join their growing team. This is an excellent opportunity for a recent graduate or someone with up to two years' experience to develop their career while working on a wide range of residential, commercial and infrastructure projects.

The role is predominantly site-based, giving you the opportunity to build strong technical and practical experience while working alongside experienced engineers and engineering geologists.

The role:

* Assisting with ground investigations across a variety of sites

* Logging soil and rock to BS5930 standards

* Supervising trial pits, window sampling and borehole investigations

* Coordinating and overseeing drilling contractors

* Collecting soil, rock and groundwater samples for laboratory testing

* Carrying out in-situ testing including CBR, soakaway and permeability testing

* Producing factual ground investigation reports

* Assisting with geotechnical and geoenvironmental interpretative reporting

* Ensuring work is carried out safely and in line with current health and safety standards

Requirements:

* Degree in Engineering Geology, Geology, Geotechnical Engineering or a related subject

* Full UK driving licence

* Strong communication and organisational skills

* Willingness to travel and work on sites across the region

* Enthusiastic attitude with a desire to develop a career within ground engineering
