Key Responsibilities

Work alongside the class teacher to deliver differentiated learning activities, adapting materials and approaches to suit varying abilities and learning styles.

*

Support the planning and implementation of Individual Education Plans (IEPs) in close collaboration with the SENCO and support staff.

*

Create and maintain an inclusive, encouraging learning environment that fosters confidence, independence, and active student engagement.

*

Apply effective strategies for behaviour support and academic differentiation to promote both educational progress and emotional wellbeing.

*

Assist with personal care and mobility as needed, ensuring all students are treated with respect, dignity, and compassion.

Requirements

Proven experience supporting children or young people with Special Educational Needs, ideally within a school or specialist setting.

*

A solid understanding of key SEN practices, including differentiation, positive behaviour approaches, and alternative communication tools (e.g., PECS, Makaton).

*

A patient, nurturing, and proactive approach, with a strong dedication to promoting inclusion and supporting individual learning journeys.

*

Strong teamwork and communication skills, with the ability to work effectively alongside teaching staff, families, and external professionals.
