Learning Support Assistant - Work Placement Support (SEN College)

Location: Erdington, Birmingham

Hours: Full-time, Monday to Friday

Start Date: Immediate

Are you passionate about supporting students with special educational needs (SEN) in real-world environments?

Do you have the experience and qualifications to make a real difference to young people's lives?

A welcoming and supportive Post 16 college in Erdington is looking for a Learning Support Assistant (LSA) to join their team immediately. This role focuses on providing 1:1 and small group support to students with SEN while they are on work placements, helping them to build confidence, develop life skills and thrive in the workplace.

Key Responsibilities:

* Support learners with a range of SEN during their external work placements

* Act as a liaison between the college, placement providers, and students

* Encourage independence and confidence in practical, real-life settings

* Monitor student progress and provide feedback to teaching staff

* Ensure safeguarding and health & safety protocols are followed at all times

Requirements:

* Previous experience supporting students with SEN

* Relevant qualifications in education, support work, or SEN (e.g. Level 2 or 3 Teaching

* Assistant, Supporting Teaching & Learning, or equivalent)

* Ability to build positive relationships with students and external partners

* A proactive, patient, and supportive approach

* Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to apply)
