Learning Support Assistant (SEN)
Location: Secondary School - Havering
Contract: Full-time / Term-time only
Start Date: ASAP
About the Role
We are seeking a committed, patient and enthusiastic SEN Learning Support Assistant (LSA) to join our supportive secondary school team in Havering. The successful candidate will work closely with students who have a range of Special Educational Needs, helping them to access the curriculum, develop confidence, and achieve their full potential.
Key Responsibilities
*
Provide 1:1 and small-group support for students with SEN.
*
Adapt learning materials and strategies to meet individual needs.
*
Work collaboratively with teachers, the SENCO and external professionals.
*
Support students' social, emotional and academic development.
*
Help maintain a positive, inclusive and safe learning environment.
*
Record and report progress, concerns and achievements as required.
Person Specification
*
Experience supporting children or young people with SEN (school-based or equivalent).
*
Understanding of a range of needs such as autism, ADHD, speech & language, SEMH or learning difficulties.
*
Calm, empathetic and flexible approach.
*
Strong communication and teamwork skills.
*
A passion for supporting young people and helping them succeed.
*
GCSEs (or equivalent) in English and Maths required; additional SEN training is desirable.
