Location: London

We are working with a long-established, multi-disciplinary building services consultancy that continues to strengthen its London-based Acoustics team. The group delivers specialist acoustic, noise, and vibration advice across large-scale UK developments and complex refurbishment schemes, working closely with design teams from concept through to delivery.

They are now seeking a Principal Acoustic Consultant to provide technical leadership, oversee project delivery, and play a key role in shaping the direction and growth of the acoustics offering in London.

The role

As a Principal Consultant, you will take overall responsibility for the delivery and technical quality of acoustic services across a wide project portfolio, including:

*

Leading building and architectural acoustics input from early-stage design through to detailed technical resolution

*

Managing and reviewing environmental noise and vibration assessments to support planning and development strategies

*

Overseeing M&E acoustics work, including complex plant noise assessments and mitigation design

*

Directing site-based noise monitoring programmes and ensuring robust data interpretation

*

Reviewing and approving technical reports, while confidently presenting findings to clients and project teams

*

Coordinating closely with internal disciplines (MEP, sustainability, structures) and managing external stakeholder interfaces

You will also play a central role in mentoring and developing junior and mid-level consultants, setting technical standards and supporting team performance.

About you

The successful candidate will demonstrate:

*

Significant experience within an acoustic consultancy environment, operating at Senior or Principal level

*

Strong technical authority combined with a commercially aware, solutions-driven approach

*

In-depth knowledge of relevant standards and guidance (including BS 4142, BS 8233, BB93 and ProPG)

*

Proven experience with acoustic modelling tools such as CadnaA and/or SoundPLAN

*

A strong background in noise monitoring and assessment methodologies

*

The ability to manage complex workloads, review others' work, and maintain high technical standards

Desirable experience

*

Corporate or full IOA membership and progress toward Chartered status

*

Experience contributing to EIA or Environmental Statement projects

*

Construction noise and vibration assessment experience, including Section 61

*

A proactive interest in business development, work-winning, and client account growth

Why apply?

*

Leadership responsibility on high-profile London projects across multiple sectors

*

A collaborative, multi-disciplinary consultancy environment with strong internal support

*

Clearly defined progression framework

*

A key leadership role within a growing and ambitious acoustics team
