Would you like to take a leading role on complex ground engineering projects while helping shape the direction of a growing team?

A well-established consultancy in London is looking to appoint a Principal Geotechnical Engineer to support the delivery of technically challenging projects across the UK and internationally. This role offers a mix of technical leadership, project delivery, and team development, with a strong focus on large earth structures and tailings storage facilities.

The Role:

*

Leading geotechnical input on complex projects from feasibility through to construction and ongoing monitoring

*

Producing and reviewing detailed geotechnical and geotechnical risk assessments, including dam safety and stability analyses

*

Providing expertise in slope stability, earthworks, and the design and assessment of tailings storage facilities

*

Supporting projects involving embankment dams, containment systems, and ground improvement techniques

*

Contributing to dam safety reviews, audits, and risk management strategies

*

Mentoring junior engineers and supporting the growth of the team

*

Liaising with clients and stakeholders across the UK and international markets

About You:

*

Proven experience in a senior or principal geotechnical role

*

Strong background in earth structures, embankments, or tailings storage facilities

*

Experience with slope stability analysis and geotechnical modelling software (e.g. GeoStudio, PLAXIS or similar)

*

Good understanding of dam safety regulations and industry best practice

*

Chartered or working towards chartership (ICE or similar)

*

Strong communication skills and ability to lead both projects and client relationships
