Principal Air Quality Consultant - Manchester - £50,000 to £65,000 + Benefits

A specialist UK-based Environmental and Engineering Consultancy is seeking a Principal Air Quality Consultant to join its established team in Manchester. This is an exciting opportunity for a highly experienced consultant to lead regulatory and compliance-focused air quality projects across a range of sectors, while contributing to the development of a high-performing regional team.

Essential Requirements:

*

5+ years' experience working in air quality consultancy or regulation.

*

Strong background in air quality impact assessment, permitting, or compliance.

*

Excellent understanding of UK air quality legislation, modelling tools, and regulatory frameworks.

*

Proven experience managing complex projects and client relationships.

*

A full UK driving licence.

Preferred Qualifications:

*

A degree in Environmental Science, Chemistry, Engineering, or a related discipline (engineering background highly desirable).

*

Familiarity with dispersion modelling (e.g., ADMS, AERMOD) and air quality monitoring.

*

Experience working on regulatory compliance for industrial, energy, or infrastructure clients.

*

Ability to manage junior staff, review technical output, and contribute to business development.

The Role:

As a Principal Consultant, you will lead the delivery of technically robust, compliance-driven air quality projects, working closely with clients, regulators, and multidisciplinary teams. You will play a key role in mentoring junior consultants and shaping the future growth of the Manchester air quality division.

Key Responsibilities:

Leading air quality and emissions assessments for permitting, planning, and compliance.

*

Overseeing modelling, site assessments, and technical reporting.

*

Managing client accounts, proposals, and project delivery.

*

Representing the business in meetings with regulatory authorities and stakeholders.

*

Supporting the development of internal technical processes and junior team members.

This is a Manchester-based, full-time role, offering a competitive salary of £50,000 to £65,000, pension contributions, private medical cover, and the opportunity to take a leading role within a respected and expanding consultancy.
