Location: Kingston upon Thames

Contract: Full-time, Term-time Only

Start Date: ASAP / Autumn Term 2025

About Us

We are a specialist college in Kingston upon Thames supporting young people aged 16+ with profound and multiple learning difficulties (PMLD) and complex needs. Our aim is to provide a safe, supportive and stimulating environment where every learner is encouraged to achieve their full potential and develop essential life skills for adulthood.

The Role

We are seeking a resilient, empathetic and proactive SEN Support Worker to join our dedicated team. This role is highly rewarding but also physically and emotionally demanding. You will:

* Support learners with PMLD, Autism, medical needs and complex communication needs

* Provide personal care and mobility support (training provided if required)

* Assist with sensory programmes, communication aids and therapeutic activities

* Encourage independence, emotional regulation and social interaction

* Use de-escalation strategies and maintain a calm approach during challenging behaviour

* Work closely with tutors, therapists, and parents to deliver tailored support plans

Requirements

* Experience supporting children or young adults with SEN, ideally in a PMLD or specialist setting

* Confidence and resilience when managing challenging behaviour

* A patient, caring and positive approach with a genuine passion for SEN

* Ability to follow care and safeguarding procedures at all times

* Enhanced DBS check (or willingness to obtain one)

Training in manual handling, Team Teach / de-escalation, or experience with personal care is desirable but not essential - full training can be provided.

What We Offer

* A supportive and experienced multidisciplinary team

* Ongoing CPD and specialist training (e.g. communication aids, behaviour support, moving & handling)

* Opportunities to progress in SEN, care and education

* A role where you will genuinely make a difference to young people's lives every day
