SEN Teacher - Specialist School

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a dedicated and passionate SEN Teacher to join a progressive and well-resourced specialist school.

This specialist provision supports pupils aged 7-19 with complex needs, including Severe Learning Difficulties (SLD) and a range of additional needs. The school is fully inclusive and committed to delivering high-quality, personalised education that enables every pupil to flourish.

The Role

The successful candidate will:

* Plan and deliver highly individualised, engaging and meaningful learning experiences tailored to pupils' cognitive, communication and sensory needs

* Teach and support learners working at early developmental levels

* Work collaboratively with therapists and other multi-disciplinary professionals to embed therapeutic approaches into everyday teaching

* Utilise a range of Augmentative and Alternative Communication (AAC) systems, including:

* High-tech communication devices and applications

* Low-tech systems such as PECS, Sign-Along and visual supports

* Build strong, positive relationships with families and contribute effectively to home-school communication

* Play an active role in Annual Reviews and contribute to Education, Health and Care Plan (EHCP) processes

* Take responsibility for the progress, attainment and outcomes of all pupils within your class

* Lead, coordinate and support a team of SEN Teaching Assistants

* Deliver creative, pupil-centred lessons in line with the school's curriculum

* Promote the safety, wellbeing and holistic development of all pupils

Pupils are supported to achieve a range of appropriate qualifications and develop into confident, articulate and ambitious young adults.

The school encourages curiosity, independence and lifelong learning.

The Ideal Candidate Will Have:

* QTS or QTLS (essential)

* Proven experience working with pupils with SEN, complex needs, SLD or PMLD

* Experience in a Primary, Secondary or Post-16 setting

* The ability to deliver high-quality teaching within a collaborative, multi-disciplinary team

* Experience of leading within a subject area and driving strong pupil progress

* High expectations and ambition for all learners

* A calm, resilient and positive approach, with the ability to maintain a sense of humour under pressure

* A strong understanding of safeguarding and child protection responsibilities

* A genuine passion for special education and a commitment to ongoing professional development
