Senior Acoustic Consultant

Overview

We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Senior Acoustic Consultant to join our client's growing infrastructure team. This is an exciting opportunity to work on nationally significant infrastructure projects, including Development Consent Orders (DCOs), Environmental Impact Assessments (EIA), and complex multi-disciplinary planning applications. The role is primarily office-based, with occasional travel required for specific project needs. Locations available include Bristol, Leeds, London, or Warrington.

Responsibilities

* Deliver high-quality acoustic assessments for major infrastructure projects, including road, rail, and airport schemes.

* Lead and contribute to expert modelling teams, developing bespoke assessment frameworks and crafting compelling narratives to support successful planning outcomes.

* Engage with stakeholders, provide expert witness contributions, and develop analytical tools to shape decision-making at the highest level.

* Collaborate with multi-disciplinary teams to deliver innovative and effective solutions.

* Manage projects and mentor junior staff to ensure the delivery of high-quality work.

Qualifications

* Essential:

* Strong interest and experience in environmental acoustics.

* Proven experience in multi-disciplinary projects (e.g., road, rail, airport), including modelling and report writing.

* Excellent written and oral communication skills, with the ability to produce clear and concise reports.

* Proficiency in data analysis, interpretation, and relevant software (e.g., MS Excel and Word).

* Understanding of UK/international noise legislation.

* Willingness to undertake site/field work.

* Strong problem-solving and analytical abilities.

* Desirable:

* Postgraduate degree in a science or engineering-based discipline or relevant chartership.

* Membership in professional institutions such as the Institute of Acoustics.

* Experience in consultancy, stakeholder engagement, and technical management of noise assessments.

* Full UK driving license.

Day-to-Day

* Collaborate with colleagues to deliver acoustic assessments for infrastructure projects.

* Develop and apply innovative modelling techniques and assessment frameworks.

* Engage with clients, stakeholders, and regulatory bodies to ensure project success.

* Prepare technical reports and documentation to support planning applications.

* Mentor and support junior team members, fostering a collaborative and high-performing team environment.
