Senior Flood Risk and Hydraulic Modelling Consultant

Location: Manchester

A fantastic opportunity has arisen for a Senior Flood Risk and Hydraulic Modelling Consultant to join a growing environmental consultancy in Manchester. This role is ideal for an experienced specialist who enjoys delivering high quality flood risk assessments, hydrological analysis and hydraulic modelling, while supporting junior colleagues and contributing to the growth of a regional water team. You will work closely with consultants in Manchester, Sheffield and other regional offices, gaining exposure to a variety of development, infrastructure and environmental schemes.

As a Senior Flood Risk and Hydraulic Modelling Consultant, you will support and lead elements of project delivery, prepare detailed technical reports, undertake hydrological assessments using industry standard software and build hydraulic models for residential, mixed use and infrastructure schemes. You will liaise with regulators, statutory bodies and clients, helping to guide projects through the planning and approvals process.

Key Responsibilities

*

Prepare Flood Risk Assessments, hydrology calculations, ES chapters and modelling reports.

*

Undertake hydrological analysis using FEH, ReFH2 and WINFAP.

*

Build and run hydraulic models using HECRAS, TUFLOW, ESTRY or Flood Modeller.

*

Carry out site walkovers, risk assessments and survey coordination.

*

Liaise with regulators, water authorities, local planning teams and clients.

*

Support project managers with time and budget control.

*

Provide guidance and mentoring to junior team members.

*

Contribute to fee proposals and project planning.

About You

*

Solid experience in flood risk, hydrology and hydraulic modelling.

*

Skilled in relevant modelling and hydrology software.

*

Strong communicator with excellent report writing skills.

*

Organised and confident working across multidisciplinary teams.

*

Degree in a relevant environmental, earth science or engineering discipline.

*

Working towards or holding CIWEM membership is desirable.
