Senior Geotechnical Engineer - Tailings

A leading international engineering consultancy is seeking a Senior Geotechnical Engineer specialising in tailings to join its expanding London-based team. With a strong pipeline of global mining and mine waste projects, this is an excellent opportunity to step into a senior role within a highly respected, technically driven environment.

The Role
You will play a key role in delivering geotechnical design and advisory services across a range of mining and infrastructure projects, with a particular focus on tailings storage facilities and mine waste management.
Key responsibilities include:
* Developing design bases from project data, including client specifications, drawings and reports
* Leading and delivering geotechnical designs (earthworks, embankments, dams, excavations, foundations and impoundments)
* Planning, budgeting and managing project assignments from concept through to delivery
* Interpreting site investigation and laboratory data to inform design decisions
* Reviewing technical reports, drawings and specifications
* Overseeing and directing geotechnical site investigations and fieldwork programmes
* Producing clear, concise technical reports for clients
* Mentoring junior engineers and supporting team development
* Acting as a key client contact, building and maintaining strong relationships
* Supporting business development, including proposal writing and identifying new opportunities in the mining sector
Requirements
* Degree in Civil Engineering, Geotechnical Engineering, Mining Engineering or a related discipline
* Ideally a Masters (or higher) in Geotechnical Engineering, Soil Mechanics or similar
* 8+ years' experience in geotechnical design
* Strong experience in mining, tailings or mine waste management preferred
* Proven ability to manage projects and lead technical delivery
* Strong communication skills with the ability to liaise directly with clients
* Fluent in English (additional languages beneficial)
