Position: Senior Chartered Town Planner
Location: Newcastle
Penguin Recruitment is delighted to be supporting Planning Potential, a respected and independent planning consultancy, in the appointment of a Senior Chartered Town Planner for their Newcastle office.
This is an excellent opportunity for an ambitious planner to join a friendly and forward-thinking team with a strong reputation for delivering high-quality planning advice to a broad client base across the UK.
The Role:
As a Senior Planner, you will play a key role in delivering complex planning projects for a diverse mix of clients across residential, commercial, retail, and mixed-use sectors. You will be supported by experienced professionals while also mentoring junior team members and contributing to business development activities.
You will be expected to:
* Lead and manage a variety of planning projects
* Prepare, submit, and negotiate planning applications and appeals
* Deliver commercially sound planning advice to private sector clients
* Liaise with local authorities, stakeholders, and consultees
* Draft planning statements, representations, and design and access statements
* Contribute to client retention and identify new business opportunities
Requirements:
* Chartered Member of the RTPI
* Experience in town planning, ideally within consultancy
* Excellent knowledge of the UK planning system
* Confident in dealing with clients, local authorities, and stakeholders
* Strong report writing, communication, and organisational skills
* Ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines
Desirable:
* A network of local contacts in the North East
* Experience in public consultations and appeal work
* Business development or fee proposal experience
