Job Title: Senior Planning Manager
Location: Preston Brook, Cheshire
Penguin Recruitment is delighted to be supporting a leading land investment and promotion business as they look to appoint an experienced Senior Planning Manager to their team in Preston Brook. This is an excellent opportunity for a commercially astute planning professional to contribute to high-profile, complex developments across the UK.
The Role
As a Senior Planning Manager, you will take a key role in managing planning projects from initial feasibility through Local Plan promotion, planning applications, Environmental Impact Assessments (EIAs), and appeals. You will work closely with a wide range of stakeholders-including developers, landowners, investors, and multidisciplinary consultant teams-to secure commercially sound and effective planning outcomes.
Key Responsibilities:
* Leading the preparation of planning strategies, appraisals, and supporting documents
* Analysing site histories and interpreting local and national planning policy
* Producing clear and compelling planning statements for development proposals
* Overseeing project timelines, budgets, and deliverables
* Working collaboratively with internal teams and external consultants
* Monitoring and managing planning applications through to determination
About You:
* Degree in Town Planning or a related discipline
* Chartered Member of the RTPI
* At least 5 years' experience in planning, ideally within consultancy, a housebuilder, a promoter, or local authority
* Strong understanding of planning policy and the UK planning system
* Excellent communication and report-writing skills
* Strong analytical thinking and problem-solving abilities
* Commercially minded with the confidence to manage complex planning matters
