Senior Planner

Location: Newcastle Upon Tyne

Penguin Recruitment is delighted to be supporting a highly regarded multi-disciplinary consultancy in their search for a Senior Planner to join their growing team in Newcastle.

This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced planning professional to take on a varied and rewarding role within a supportive and forward-thinking environment. You'll be joining a well-established planning team delivering high-quality advice to a diverse mix of public and private sector clients.

The successful candidate will work on a broad range of projects across residential, commercial, industrial, retail, education, leisure, energy, and infrastructure sectors. From managing complex planning applications to leading on Environmental Impact Assessments (EIA), this is a chance to be involved in work that shapes the built and natural environment for the better.

Key Responsibilities

* Lead and manage a variety of planning projects from inception to completion

* Provide strategic advice to clients across various planning regimes (including Marine, Environmental, Renewable, and Major Infrastructure)

* Prepare and submit planning applications, ensuring alignment with national and local policies

* Coordinate and deliver Environmental Impact Assessments (EIA)

* Build strong working relationships with clients, local authorities, and stakeholders

* Support and mentor junior team members

* Stay up to date with planning legislation, policies, and best practice

About You

We're looking for a proactive, commercially aware planner with excellent communication and project management skills.

You will have:

* A degree in Town Planning or a related discipline

* A minimum of 3 years' planning experience (private or public sector)

* Chartered membership of the RTPI (or working towards it)

* Experience in EIA management is desirable

* A collaborative and professional approach

* A genuine interest in sustainable and responsible development
