Senior Town Planner

Location: Bodmin, Cornwall

Reporting To: Head of Land and Planning

Penguin Recruitment is delighted to be supporting a respected, design-led regional housebuilder in their search for two experienced Planners to join their expanding team.

With a growing reputation for high-quality residential developments, our client delivers everything from intimate 30-home schemes to multi-phase communities of several hundred homes across Cornwall and Devon. As part of their strategic growth, they are looking for planning professionals to take a leading role in driving forward planning applications, securing consents, and shaping well-designed, sustainable communities.

The Role

As a Planner, you will lead projects from pre-application through to planning consent. Working across departments - including Land, Technical, Commercial, Build, and Sales - you'll shape planning strategies, manage external consultants, and maintain positive relationships with local authorities and stakeholders to help bring forward well-considered, commercially viable developments.

Key Responsibilities

Develop and lead planning strategies across the development pipeline

*

Manage pre-application discussions, submissions, conditions, and appeals

*

Provide input into site appraisals and acquisitions

*

Liaise with LPAs, stakeholders, communities, and planning consultants

*

Keep informed of evolving planning policy and legislation

*

Represent the business at planning committees and public consultations

Requirements

*

Degree in Town Planning or a related discipline (RTPI membership preferred)

*

Experience in both public and private sector planning environments

*

Proven track record of securing residential planning consents

*

Commercial acumen and strong communication/stakeholder management skills

*

Full UK driving licence (frequent travel across Cornwall and Devon required)
