Special Needs Assistant (Children with Complex Needs & Challenging Behaviour)

* Location: Bedminster, Bristol - BS3

* Job Type: 9am - Midday, Monday - Friday - Part Time

* Salary: £45 - £50 per half day, dependent on experience

* Start Date: ASAP

We are looking for a dedicated and compassionate Special Needs Learning Support Assistant to join our dynamic team in Bristol. In this rewarding role, you will support a child in year 1 within a mainstream school, who has an Autism diagnosis and Global Developmental Delay

Responsibilities of a Special Needs Assistant:

* Assist in the development and delivery of tailored learning plans in collaboration with teachers and SENCO.

* Implement strategies to manage behaviour effectively, promoting a safe and positive learning environment.

* Assist with personal care and other physical needs where necessary.

* Observe and monitor student progress, reporting any concerns to relevant staff members.

* Foster positive relationships with children, encouraging their social, emotional, and academic growth.

* Support children in accessing the curriculum and maintaining engagement in lessons.

Skills of a Special Needs Assistant:

* Previous experience working with children with special needs or challenging behaviour

* A patient, empathetic, and resilient approach to working with children who may have additional emotional or physical needs.

* Understanding of safeguarding and child protection procedures.

* Maths and English at GCSE - Minimum grade 4/C or equivalent / Relevant qualifications in education, special needs, or childcare (e.g., NVQ, CACHE)
