We are working with a rapidly improving secondary school in Southampton to appoint a passionate and experienced Subject Lead for Sociology. This is an exciting opportunity for an ambitious educator to lead and shape the Sociology department within a supportive and forward-thinking school environment.

About the Role:

As Subject Lead for Sociology, you will play a key role in the ongoing development and delivery of the Sociology curriculum across Key Stage 4. You will lead on teaching and learning strategies, support departmental planning, and contribute to whole-school initiatives related to your subject.

Key Responsibilities:

Lead the Sociology department with a clear vision for progress and excellence

*

Deliver high-quality, engaging Sociology lessons at Key Stage 4

*

Support curriculum development, assessment strategies, and resource planning

*

Monitor and drive student outcomes and progress within the subject area

*

Provide mentoring and support for colleagues where appropriate

*

Work closely with senior leadership to align departmental goals with the wider school strategy

Requirements:

*

Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent recognised teaching qualification

*

Extensive experience teaching Sociology at KS4

*

Proven ability to raise achievement and deliver strong classroom outcomes

*

Excellent leadership, communication, and organisational skills

*

A passion for Sociology and the ability to inspire both students and colleagues

* The ability to also teach RE at KS3 would be highly beneficial.
