Pay Rate: £13.50 per hour

Working Pattern: Rota-based including weekends

Bank Holiday Pay: Double Pay

About the Role

This is a rewarding opportunity to join an established residential care service as a Team Leader, supporting the day-to-day running of the home while delivering high-quality care to residents.

Working closely with the Registered Manager, you will help oversee the smooth operation of the service, supporting staff and ensuring residents receive safe, compassionate and person-centred care.

The role includes leading care staff, supporting care planning and risk assessments, coordinating with healthcare professionals and ensuring the home maintains the highest standards of dignity, safety and wellbeing for residents.

You will also take responsibility for the service in the absence of the Registered Manager, providing leadership and guidance to the care team.

Key Responsibilities – Leadership & Care Delivery

- Support the Registered Manager with the day-to-day running of the care home

- Take full responsibility for the service in the absence of the Registered Manager

- Lead by example and provide guidance and support to care staff

- Supervise care and domestic staff both formally and informally

- Complete supervisions and support staff development

- Ensure residents receive person-centred care aligned with their individual care plans

- Promote dignity, privacy and respect for all residents

- Encourage independence and wellbeing for service users

- Provide personal care in accordance with residents’ assessed needs

Resident Care Responsibilities

- Assist residents with personal care including:

- Washing, dressing and bathing

- Toileting and continence care

- Mobility support and use of specialist equipment

- Provide emotional support and companionship to residents

Promote social engagement and participation in activities

Support residents with meals, snacks and hydration where required - Respond promptly to residents’ calls for assistance

Medication & Health Support

Assist with the ordering, storage and administration of medication in accordance with medication policies and procedures

Liaise with:

- GPs

- District Nurses

- Speech & Language Therapists (SALT)

- Other healthcare professionals

- Monitor residents’ health and wellbeing

- Report any changes in condition to appropriate professionals

- Support accurate record keeping of care provided

Care Planning & Safeguarding

- Contribute to the development and review of individual care plans

- Complete and review risk assessments

- Ensure safeguarding standards are upheld at all times

- Maintain accurate documentation and care records

- Ensure all resident information is treated confidentially

Operational & Household Responsibilities

- Support the overall running of the home including:

- Preparing and serving meals and refreshments

- Maintaining clean and safe living environments

- Supporting infection prevention and control standards

- Assist with general housekeeping duties where required

- Ensure all visitors and callers are welcomed professionally

Successful Applicant Profile

Essential

- Level 3 Health and Social Care qualification

- Minimum 2 years’ experience working within a care home environment

- Strong leadership and communication skills

- Ability to supervise and support care staff

- Experience delivering person-centred care

- Good organisational and record-keeping skills

- Understanding of safeguarding and care standards

Desirable

- Safe Handling of Medicines Level 2 qualification

- Experience leading teams within residential care settings

- Experience completing care plans and risk assessments

Safeguarding & Compliance

This role is subject to:

- Enhanced DBS check

- Two satisfactory references

- Completion of mandatory training

- Infection Prevention and Control practices are integral to this role and must be followed at all times.
