Job Title: Therapeutic Pastoral Lead

Location: Westcliff-on-Sea area

We are seeking a compassionate and experienced Therapeutic Pastoral Lead to support children and young people with a range of needs including Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH), Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND), Autism, ADHD, and Additional Health Care Needs (AHCT). The role also involves promoting the spiritual, moral, social, and cultural (SMSC) development of all pupils.

Key Responsibilities:

Provide therapeutic pastoral support to pupils, helping them to manage emotions, behaviour, and relationships.

*

Work closely with staff, families, and external professionals to create personalised support strategies.

*

Deliver interventions that promote resilience, self-regulation, and wellbeing.

*

Monitor progress and contribute to reviews, ensuring support remains tailored and effective.

*

Model and encourage positive behaviours, attitudes, and values across the school community.

*

Lead initiatives to enhance SMSC development, fostering respect, empathy, and inclusion.

Essential Skills and Experience:

*

Experience working with children and young people with SEMH, SEND, Autism, ADHD, and complex needs.

*

Understanding of therapeutic approaches to behaviour and pastoral care.

*

Strong interpersonal skills, with the ability to build trust and positive relationships.

*

Ability to work collaboratively with colleagues, families, and multi-agency professionals.

*

Commitment to safeguarding, equality, and inclusive practice.

Desirable:

*

Relevant qualifications in therapeutic or pastoral support, counselling, or child development.

*

Experience leading interventions or pastoral programmes within an educational setting.
