Town Planner

Tunbridge Wells, Kent

Permanent | Competitive Salary + Benefits

An established, design-led architectural practice is seeking a Town Planner to join its close-knit team in Tunbridge Wells.

This RIBA-chartered consultancy has built a strong reputation for delivering high-quality residential and heritage-led projects, with a focus on traditional architecture, sustainability, and sensitive design within the Kent and Sussex region.

Working across projects including new homes, extensions, listed buildings, and rural developments, the team provides a collaborative, hands-on environment with real involvement across the full project lifecycle.

The Role

You will support and lead on a range of planning projects, working closely with architects, clients, and local authorities.

Key responsibilities include:

* Preparing and managing planning applications and appeals

* Advising on planning policy, constraints, and site development potential

* Supporting design teams to ensure proposals align with local and national policy

* Liaising with local authorities, consultants, and stakeholders

* Producing planning statements, heritage statements, and supporting documentation

* Assisting with site appraisals and feasibility studies

You will gain exposure to a wide variety of residential and small-scale commercial schemes, often in sensitive or constrained planning contexts.

About You

* Degree qualified in Town Planning or a related discipline

* Working towards or recently achieved MRTPI (or equivalent)

* Experience in a consultancy or architectural practice preferred

* Good understanding of the UK planning system (ideally within the South East)

* Strong report writing and communication skills

* Ability to work both independently and as part of a small team

Why Apply?

* Join a respected, design-focused practice with a strong regional reputation

* Work on bespoke, high-quality projects rather than volume-led schemes

* Gain hands-on experience across the full planning and design process

* Supportive, collaborative team environment

* Tunbridge Wells office location with excellent project variety across Kent & Sussex
