Due to continued growth, they are now looking to appoint an experienced Transport and Logistics Operations Manager to support and lead their expanding operation.

About the Transport and Operations Manager Role

As Transport and Logistics Operations Manager, you will play a key leadership role across the business, ensuring goods are delivered safely, on time, and in the most cost-effective manner. Customer service, compliance, and operational excellence will be at the core of everything you do.

Key responsibilities include:

 

- Leading and promoting strong teamwork across all operational departments

- Driving continuous improvement through improved processes and procedures

- Planning short- and long-term operational requirements to ensure business continuity

- Managing driver and vehicle resources to maximise efficiency and utilisation

- Monitoring performance through KPI analysis and operational data

- Ensuring transport operations meet budgeted costs and contractual KPIs

- Preparing KPI reports and presenting updates to senior management

- Improving fuel efficiency and MPG through effective transport planning

- Working closely with maintenance teams to ensure fleet compliance and availability

- Ensuring full compliance with Tachograph, WTD, and UK & EU transport regulations

- Supporting and developing staff through performance reviews and training plans

- Playing a key role in driver recruitment, training, and retention

- Promoting a strong health & safety culture in line with legislative and ISO standards

What We’re Looking For in the Successful Transport and Operations Manager

 

- Proven management experience, ideally within the transport or logistics industry

- Experience of container and general haulage operations

- Strong understanding of driver hours, Tachograph, and WTD regulations

- Ability to manage budgets and improve performance using data and KPIs

- Excellent leadership, communication, and people management skills

- Strong organisational and planning ability

- Good geographical knowledge and problem-solving skills

- Transport Manager CPC (preferred but not essential)

- Confident IT user with experience of transport management systems
