Year 1 Teacher (Maternity Cover)
Are you an enthusiastic and dedicated primary teacher looking for an exciting opportunity to inspire and support young learners? Academics Bristol is seeking a talented and motivated Year 1 Teacher for a maternity cover in an East Bristol mainstream primary school.
Contract type: Fixed-term maternity cover
Location: Bristol (BS5)
Start date: September 2025
Salary: Paid to scale
About the role
* Providing high-quality teaching and learning for Year 1 pupils, ensuring they are supported, challenged, and inspired to achieve their best.
* Plan and deliver engaging, well-structured lessons in line with the school's curriculum and schemes of work.
* Assess, monitor, and report on pupil progress, using assessment to inform teaching.
* Adapt teaching to respond to individual strengths and needs.
* Take an active role in the wider life and ethos of the school.
* Manage behaviour effectively, ensuring a safe and positive learning environment.
* Communicate effectively with pupils, parents, carers, and colleagues.
What we're looking for from you
* A teacher who holds Qualified Teacher Status (QTS)
* Strong knowledge of the primary curriculum, particularly EYFS or KS1
* Skilled at planning and differentiating to meet diverse learning needs.
* An excellent communicator and team player.
* Uses ICT effectively in teaching and administration.
* A passion for continuous improvement - for themselves and their pupils.
